Il n'est pas venu à l'entrainement pendant trois jours... La direction de Leicester City a donc décidé d’infliger à l'international algérien une sanction financière de 200.000 livres, soit 228 000 euros.
Riyad Mahrez n'aurait pas digéré l'attitude du club à son égard durant ce mercato hivernal. Leicester a en effet refusé son transfert vers Manchester City. Le club a dit non à quatre offres dont une à 74 millions d'euros.
